Why are these products being recalled? 

We have historically utilised the industry-standard PLM (Polarised Light Microscopy) test, which detects asbestos content down to a threshold of 0.1%, and under this method, our sand products have consistently met the required standards.

However, following recent analysis using the more advanced SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) test, which is capable of detecting asbestos at a threshold of 0%, it has been identified that our sand products contain the presence of asbestos fibres.

As asbestos is a prohibited substance, these products are therefore non-compliant with current UK and EU safety regulations.

How can I tell if my product is affected by this recall?

Check the item SKU code on the product label or packaging, near the barcode against the SKU list provided.

The product seems fine. Can I keep using it? 

NO. We are advising customers to ’STOP’ using these products immediately and to keep them out of reach of children. 

What should we do if we have one of these products?

If you have any of the above products, you should: 

  • - Stop using the product immediately 
  • - Keep it out of reach of children 
  • - Follow the disposal instructions carefully 

How do I dispose of the product?

  • - Avoid creating dust when handling the product
  • - If the product is unopened, keep it sealed
  • - If opened or used, handle carefully and avoid disturbance
  • - Make sure to double-bag product in a heavy-duty plastic bag and securely double-tape.

Have there been any injuries reported? 

No injuries have been reported upon these products.    

Do I need to have the product tested? 

NO. It is not necessary, as our testing has shown that the products contain the presence of asbestos fibres. The risk is considered low, but because asbestos should not be present in any amount. We are issuing a recall notice for these products.  

Can I get a refund?

YES. Customers are entitled to a full refund for the remaining stock, please email products@teddy-tastic.co.uk with your stock volume.

Where do I find the Item code?

The item code  can be found on the product packaging or close to the barcode. 

If we wish to buy this product again in the future will it be free from asbestos?

Future products will only be supplied once additional testing and supplier controls have been completed.
